Jacques Rival's goal is not simply to produce a spectacular object, but above all to create wonder, and to reach a wide audience, beyond cultures and generations. For him, light is a project material in its own right, capable of bringing a place to life across different timeframes and offering a truly sensory experience: it is light that gives shape to this desire to tell stories. His singularity lies in a rare balance: a demand for precision close to that of a classical architecture project, put to the service of an unapologetic sense of fantasy, unafraid to surprise or to bring a smile. This balance is embodied in works that have become emblematic of the Fête des Lumières in Lyon, his hometown, where he has been involved for over twenty years.
